Berthrone Mock-Muhammad, M.D.,F.A.C.C

Dr. Mock-Muhammad is an accomplished invasive heart failure and cardiology electrophysiology device specialist who is a staff cardiologist who was formerly  affiliated with Jackson Cardiology Associates of Jackson Mississippi.  He is a native of Mississippi.  He attended Tougaloo College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994.  He is a Desert Storm/Gulf War veteran, where he served his country as a flight medic.

He received a Doctorate of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College in 2000.  He completed his internal medicine training and chief residency training at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Meharry Medical College.  Dr. Mock-Muhammad trained in an integrated advanced subspecialty of Invasive Interventional Heart Failure combining collaborative training in Advance Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation, and Electrophysiology Cardiology Device training at Vanderbilt, University.

Dr. Mock-Muhammad has in the past completed a NIH sponsored clinical research under Electrophysiologist Dr. James Martin at the University of Iowa Medical Center in 1993.  He has conducted research in electrolyte patch clamp cardiac cell experiments under Mohit L. Bhattacharyya, PhD at Meharry Medical College.  He also participated in clinical research under Dr. Theodore Addai relating to left atrial volume assessment and correlation to heart failure outcomes while at Vanderbilt University.

He conducted numerous lectures via radio, TV, and print media among his peers and within the community on "Spirituality and Health," "Diastolic Heart Failure: Diagnosis & Treatment Strategies, " "Disparities in Stroke and Cardiovascular Outcomes between Blacks and Whites," "Screening Sudden Cardiac Death in Alternative Population Groups," and "New Applications and Integration of External Wearable Defibrillators in Modern Clinical Practice."

Dr. Mock-Muhammad has a passion for helping the underserved and has been a lead physician on medical missions in both Hati and Belize.  He is a member of The Alpha Omega Alpha National Medial Honor Society Association of Black Cardiologist., National Medical Association, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, and The American Heart Association.
